Jennifer Lopez on Marc Anthony: ‘We’re very Sonny and Cher’

Jennifer Lopez has characterized her relationship with ex Marc Anthony as “very Sonny and Cher after the divorce.”

People reports that Lopez makes this comment in the premiere episode of the Latin talent show, “¡Q’Viva! The Chosen,” which she and her former husband both produced and hosted. And the couple’s relationship does appear to bear a strong resemblance to that of Sonny and Cher Bono, though perhaps on fast forward.

The Bonos had a string of hit songs in the 1960s and went on to launch the “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour” in 1971 as a married couple. But the show imploded with their divorce after three seasons. It was a full two years before the estranged couple reconciled and resumed the hit program as pals.

Lopez and Anthony had conceived of “¡Q’Viva! The Chosen” while they were a couple, too, announcing the show that scours Latin countries for undiscovered performers in June. But just a month later, the couple split after seven years of marriage. While most assumed that the show would be canned, a rep for the production company behind it quickly revealed that both would be proceeding with their involvement in the series.

Throughout the fall, Lopez and Anthony traveled to several countries — sometimes separately, and sometimes together — for the show which will premiere on Jan. 28 on Univision.

Since their split, Lopez and Anthony have appeared highly cordial to each other despite reports of fights and hostilities.

On Saturday, the former couple appeared at the 2012 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena to discuss their new show. The two appeared to have a breezy rapport, even holding hands as they exited the event.

Both are moving on, however — coincidentally both with 24-year-olds. Lopez has been dating back-up dancer Casper Smart since the fall, while Marc Anthony recently flaunted his new model girlfriend, Shannon De Lima, on Facebook.
