Gwyneth & Martin had ‘open’ relationship
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s split was a long time coming.
Before dubbing their separation “Conscious Uncoupling,” the couple of 10 years struggled to make their marriage work.
At times, the parents to Apple, 9, and Moses, 7, had an “open” relationship, People reports.
“They have been on and off for many years. The marriage was falling apart,” a close friend of Paltrow’s tells the magazine.
Another source who knows them both adds, “They seemed to have a pretty mature handle on that crazy rotation of being superstars and parents. But that balance, given the time they had to spend apart, clearly couldn’t sustain itself.”
Despite backlash over how she broke the news, Paltrow paired thanks for supporters with chicken recipes on her lifestyle site, Goop.
In a post titled “One Bird, Three Ways,” the actress begins, “Our moms were raised by depression-era ladies who used a single tea bag for two cups of tea and never met a leftover they didn’t eat. This issue of three delicious chicken recipes is in honor of our grandmothers, who taught us the good old-fashioned art of not wasting a scrap.”
Paltrow signs off “Love, gp.” She adds a postscript: “P.S. CM and I in deep gratitude for the support of so many. ♥,” referring to Martin by his initials.
