Nick Cannon ‘depressed’ over Mariah Carey split

Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey finally responded to reports of their separation Thursday night.

Page Six first revealed this week that their marriage is in trouble after six years, and the two have been living apart for months. Cannon, the host of “America’s Got Talent,” has been living in hotels while his wife is living with their twins Monroe and Moroccan Scott.

On Thursday, Cannon confirmed to “The Insider” that he had moved out of their home. “There is trouble in paradise … we have been living in separate houses for a few months,” Cannon said, adding, “My main focus is my kids.”

Meanwhile, a rep for Carey — who for days refused to comment on her client’s marriage — told us, “I am not commenting on Mariah’s personal life, but Mariah is focusing on her children and her upcoming tour.”

Some sources speculated that cheating was the reason for the split. Page Six reported Carey was so worried about him getting distracted by other women, she dispatched extra security to watch over him while he hosted pool parties in Las Vegas this year.

But Cannon denies he has cheated.

We’re told Cannon has been able to see his children during the separation, but that the television host is very upset about his marital situation.

“He seems depressed,” a source told us.
