Jennifer Lawrence to co-host 2015 Met Gala
Jennifer Lawrence will be covering up in some haute couture to co-host next year’s Met Gala.
The actress will be one of a few notable faces helping to promote the event scheduled for May 4, 2015, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Anna Wintour Costume Center.
According to an announcement made Friday on Vogue.com, the gala will focus on the Chinese impact on Western fashion.
The news comes just a week after nude photos of the actress surfaced online, in the midst of a widespread celebrity hacking scandal.
Met curator Andrew Bolton will be collecting the pieces for the show, titled “Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film and Fashion.”
“Chinese Whispers” is the British term for the game telephone, so the show will focus on how Eastern culture has been adapted into fashion by Western designers.
Silas Chou, billionaire president of Chinese textile company Novel Enterprises Ltd., will be the main host of the event.
Lawrence will serve as co-host, alongside Chinese actress Gong Li, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, Wendi Murdoch and Anna Wintour.
The exhibit will feature work by designers ranging from Alexander McQueen to Laurence Xu.
