Gwyneth Paltrow ‘psyched’ Martha Stewart sees her as competition
Gwyneth Paltrow is “psyched” to learn Martha Stewart sees her company, goop, as competition.
“First of all, no one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I’m shocked and devastated,” the 42-year-old joked at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit on Tuesday. “I’ll try to recover.”
“If I’m really honest, I’m so psyched that she sees us as competition,” said Chris Martin’s soon-to-be ex-wife. “I really am.”
Stewart recently threw punches at Paltrow in a Net-A-Porter interview saying, “She just needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
The gloves seemingly came off this week when Paltrow announced she hired former Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia executive Lisa Gersh to be the new CEO of goop.
Paltrow praised Gersh saying, “Lisa is a visionary leader with unparalleled creativity and savvy. She’s the perfect person to build on the momentum we have already created at goop and to diversify our opportunities to bring goop’s positive energy directly to consumers in what they read, what they try and what they buy and how they live.”
