Yolanda Foster: Lyme disease has ‘confiscated my brain’
Yolanda Foster is a fighter.
In a brave and very personal essay on her Bravo blog, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, who’s been battling Lyme disease for three years, shared that she’s nearly lost the ability to read, write and even watch television recently.
The 51-year-old explained in her first blog post in almost a month that recent health issues have forced her to practically give up writing lately. “Although writing is usually my favorite thing to do, I unfortunately have lost the ability to do so in an intelligent matter at this time,” she explained, before highlighting her lengthy battle with the disease that’s left her feeling like someone “confiscated my brain and tied my hands behind my back.”
Since suffering a relapse in early December, Foster has faced a number of difficulties.
“Lyme Neuroborreliosis is a spirochete infection in the brain that can leave one with severe brain impairment and neurological issues,” she carefully detailed. “I have lost the ability to read, write, or even watch TV, because I can’t process information or any stimulation for that matter.”
Foster, the mother of models Gigi Hadid and Bella Hadid, has embraced various forms of treatment — both modern and ancient therapies — in hopes of finding relief.
“I made it my life mission to figure this out, because no body deserves to suffer this way in 2015,” she continued.
“As tired and hopeless as I feel at times, I have an undeniable spirit that will continue to fight and and travel the world until I have the proper answers,” she said. “I keep reminding myself that I was given this task for a greater purpose, which keeps me driven and motivated to think outside the box to make a difference…”
Before signing off, Foster urged her fans and supporters to commit to doing one random act of kindness. “…Because everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about,” she explained. “So your kindness goes a long way, and together we can make a real difference in someone’s day.”
It’s unclear whether Foster will continue to appear on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
