Mariah Carey and billionaire beau James Packer see Sting perform
Mariah Carey and her new billionaire paramour James Packer were among the guests treated to an intimate performance by Sting at the luxury Hotel du Cap in Antibes, France.
Mariah and Australian media and casino mogul Packer sailed in on his 88-meter (288-foot) converted ice breaker Arctic P to the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc to catch Sting’s show Tuesday at the MediaLink and iHeartMedia dinner for the ad and creative elite at Cannes Lions.

The new couple, who have been sharing a romantic vacation on Packer’s super yacht with stops in Capri and Cannes, were seen with their arms around each other as they sat at a table to see Sting, who we are told was paid around $1 million to perform.
After the show, Mariah — who had performed at the event last year — told Page Six of Sting, “His show was just sublime. Sting is such an incredible artist. So many of his songs are so timeless,” before she was gallantly shepherded through the crowd by Packer to a waiting boat to ferry them back to his yacht.
A heavily bearded Sting performed Police hits including “Every Breath You Take,” “Roxanne” and “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” to an elite crowd of just a few hundred which included a mix of celebrities, business and advertising leaders. He told the crowd he’d kept the beard, grown for his Broadway show “The Last Ship,” because it allows him to walk around incognito in New York.
Guests at the bash, hosted by iHeartMedia chairman and CEO Bob Pittman and MediaLink chairman and CEO Michael Kassan, included Ryan Seacrest, snowboarding legend Shaun White, “Mad Men” creator Matt Weiner, Hollywood producer and director Brian Grazer, Cosmopolitan editor Joanna Coles, Twitter’s Dick Costolo and Adam Bain, Buzzfeed’s Frank Cooper, LinkedIn’s Jeff Weiner, Shutterstock’s Jon Oringer, Airbnb’s John Mildenhall and AOL’s Bob Lord.
Also there: WPP’s Sir Martin Sorrell, IPG’s Michael Roth, Group M’s Irwin Gotlieb, Coca-Cola’s Wendy Clark, Bacardi’s Mike Dolan, Time Inc.’s Joe Ripp, Conde Nast president Bob Sauerberg and Unilever’s Keith Weed.
The party was such a hot ticket invite that even “Veep” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus was turned away, with one guest telling us, “Julia came with another invited guest, but her name wasn’t on the list, and the French staff didn’t recognize her.”
