No more ‘Bad Blood’: Taylor Swift apologizes to Nicki Minaj
Taylor Swift is sorry for butting her nose into Nicki Minaj’s business.
Two days after the “Bad Blood” singer and “Anaconda” rapper got into a Twitter spat about the MTV Video Music Awards, the former has returned to the social media service to offer a mea culpa.
“I thought I was being called out. I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki,” the 25-year-old tweeted on Thursday.
Within an hour of the post, Minaj publically accepted it, via, what else, Twitter: “That means so much Taylor, thank you.”
On Tuesday, the rapper voiced her annoyance on Twitter at failing to receive a nomination for her video “Anaconda,” which, until the release of “Bad Blood,” set Vevo’s record for most streams over a 24-hour-period.
After Minaj made reference to record-setting videos from “‘other’ girls,” Swift was quick to defend herself, and wondered why Minaj was stooping to pitting women against one another. Minaj informed her she wasn’t and Swift clumsily offered her a spot on stage during her acceptance speech.
Hours after the social media showdown, Swift rival Katy Perry (who is believed to be the subject of Swift’s song “Bad Blood”), weighed in.
“Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…” she tweeted.
While neither party looked good after the social media back and forth, Swift undoubtedly came off worse – with many blog posts and columns slamming the normally infallible singer appearing the next day.
