Nicki Minaj calls Miley a ‘b—h’ during acceptance speech
Celebrity beefs are just like life: When one ends, another begins.
Nicki Minaj used her acceptance speech for Best Hip-Hop Video as an opportunity to seemingly put Miley Cyrus on blast at the VMAs on Sunday.
“And now back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press,” Minaj said. “Miley, what’s good?”
“We’re all in this industry and we all do interviews and know how they manipulate [expletive],” the host shot right back, while trying to pass the blame.
Minaj was referring to an interview that Cyrus gave to the New York Times last week, in which she called out the rapper for her brief war of words with Taylor Swift after “Anaconda” was not nominated for Best Video but the latter’s “Bad Blood” was.
Cyrus then tried to better explain herself before congratulating Minaj, saying: “I lost this award in 2008 and I was fine with it. Whatever! Because it’s no big deal. It’s just an award and I persevered.”
Whether or not feelings of animosity were real or staged (the very quick appearance of Instagram post about the moment on MTV’s account hints at the latter) the moment added some much-needed drama to the annual awards show.
