R.I.P. Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger’s marriage

Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger’s sometimes rocky marriage has come to an end.

The “Complicated” singer, 30, took to Instagram Wednesday to announce the dissolution of her marriage to the Nickelback frontman, 40, to her 1.8 million followers.

“It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today,” the one-time pop star wrote alongside a photo of the two in happier times. “Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we’ve created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.”

The Canadian rockers wed in 2013, though they were dogged by rumors of marital difficulties for portions of their marriage.

Despite past gossip, the timing of the announcement is still strange, as the couple bought a $5.4 million mansion outside Los Angeles just this July.

Lavigne was previously married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley (who’s also Canadian), who coincidentally was re-married in Los Angeles last weekend.
