Mariah Carey and James Packer are engaged

While Nick Cannon may have sworn off marriage for good, Mariah Carey is about to become a third-time bride.

The songstress and Australian billionaire James Packer are set to tie the knot after less than a year of dating, Page Six can confirm.

“The happy couple got engaged this evening,” her rep told Page Six on Thursday night.

According to E! News, which first reported the news, Packer proposed with a massive 35-carat diamond engagement ring.

Packer, 48, began courting Carey, 45, last April. Sources told Page Six at the time that he spent thousands of dollars to fill her hotel room with flowers.

“We first met in Aspen,” she gushed to Steve Harvey in November. “A couple of years ago we were at the ‘Hercules’ premiere. We were talking and laughing and people were getting mad at us and stuff like that. So we hit it off.”

The couple made their red carpet debut in September at the New York premiere of “The Intern.”

Carey is mom to 4-year-old twins with ex-husband Cannon. She was also married to Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998. This will be the third marriage for Packer, who is also a father, as well.
