Jesse Metcalfe engaged to longtime girlfriend

Jesse Metcalfe is off the market.

The “John Tucker Must Die” star proposed to longtime love Cara Santana on Saturday aboard a 50-foot sailboat in the middle of the Hudson River in New York, Us Weekly first reported.

“It’s been a long time coming, but we couldn’t be happier,” the actor told the mag.

Metcalfe, 37, presented Santana, 31, with a 5.5.-carat emerald shaped diamond ring, which he designed.

The couple, who have been dating for the past decade, admitted their love story didn’t start with a spark on the first date.

“I wouldn’t say it was a love at first sight,” Metcalfe shared with Your Tango in 2013. “It was more of a slow burn, which I think is a better start for a relationship. I think if it comes on fast and furious, it generally fizzles out just as fast. We were slow and steady.”

Though the future newlyweds spent the weekend celebrating their engagement, the proposal overlapped with Santana’s birthday. On Tuesday, Metcalfe posted a sweet message for his bride-to-be.

“What a weekend! Meant to get this up yesterday, but was too busy celebrating. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my baby,” he wrote on Instagram.
