Karl Lagerfeld has no sympathy for Kim over jewelry heist
Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld thinks Kim Kardashian is contemptible for flashing her $4.5 million ring on Instagram.
The fashion icon doesn’t seem to have a shred of sympathy for Kim after she was held at gunpoint and robbed of nearly $10 million in jewels at her French hotel, saying instead, “It’s a very bad thing for Paris.”
Lagerfeld told Reuters, “I don’t understand why she was in a hotel with no security … If you are that famous and you put all your jewelry on [social media], you go to hotels where nobody can come near to the room.”
Kardashian was staying at the exclusive Hotel de Pourtalès, a boutique hotel popular with celebrities visiting Paris, despite its minimal security. Even though her personal bodyguard was out clubbing with her sisters, Kim was seen on Snapchat flashing her massive 20-carat emerald-cut ring on Sunday night just half an hour before the her five attackers struck, binding and gagging her before making off with her jewelry.
Lagerfeld — himself a lover of luxury whose cat Choupette has two maids and nearly 90,000 followers on Instagram — added of Kim’s garishly naïve nature, “You cannot display your wealth and then be surprised that some people want to share it with you.”
He made the comments after his Chanel show at Paris Fashion Week despite his supposedly close relationship with Kim and husband Kanye West. Lagerfeld recently photographed the couple for Harper’s Bazaar’s September issue.
