Kim tailed by two men before robbery: report
Kim Kardashian was tailed by two men — one posing as a plainclothes detective and the other as a photographer — in the days before she was robbed at gunpoint of millions of dollars in bling, according to a report.
One of the men even tried to gain access to the reality TV star’s chic apartment at the Hotel de Pourtalès before the terrifying raid, The Daily Mail reported.
”Kim Kardashian was tailed for at least three days before the robbery,” a source close to the French police probe told the paper.
“We know there was one man who pretended to be a photographer who followed the American celebrity on a motorbike to find out her whereabouts. Another man pretended to be a plainclothed detective to try to get a seat next to her at the exclusive Ferdi restaurant on Thursday night,” the source said.
The phony shutterbug was challenged by genuine photographers as he tried to listen in on their conversations, the paper reported.
Meanwhile, the fake cop bolted when workers at Ferdi asked to see his credentials.
“We know the license plate of one of the vehicles used — a Fiat 500 — and a photograph of one of the suspects. They both appear to be French and highly professional,” the source told the paper.
“But this kind of robbery could only have been carried out by a sophisticated international criminal organization. It would have to be if they had any hope of reclassify the stolen jewels and sell them again.”
Another source told MailOnline that Kardashian and her family were woefully underprotected before the brazen heist.
“[The Kardashians] had three bodyguards to protect five members of the family staying at two different locations while flaunting their jewelry for everyone to see on the internet. Clearly this wasn’t enough,” the source said.
The Kardashians had been warning one another about the danger of posting their whereabouts on social media, The Telegraph reported.
Khloé Kardashian even said her sisters should “terrify” Kylie Jenner, 19, by “holding her at gunpoint” to teach her not to post her location on Snapchat, the paper reported. The youngest sis has been stalked.
It also emerged Tuesday that Kardashian managed to slip out of the plastic ties around her wrists by “wriggling her hands” — then ran to a friend who was hiding downstairs in the two-story apartment, according to a separate report.
“She was hysterical but not screaming as she knew she had to keep quiet to survive,” a source close to the reality TV star told People. “The reports of her fear of being raped are real. She really did think she was going to be raped. She had a gun to her head the whole time.”
Kardashian was in the middle of calling her bodyguard, Pascal Duvier, when her phone was snatched from her hands, the Daily Mail reported.
After the gang of French-speaking robbers fled, she screamed for help from her balcony at the ritzy Hotel de Pourtalès.
Simone Harouche, her friend and stylist, had locked herself in a downstairs bathroom when she heard the commotion upstairs, E! News reported.
“Simone texted Pascal Duvier and (sister) Kourtney Kardashian,” a source told E! “She couldn’t dial 911 from her phone.”
Duvier was with Kourtney and their other sister, Kendall, at the Arc nightclub about 2 miles away.
Kardashian, who also was gagged with duct tape, then ran to Harouche and told her to jump off the balcony to seek help, E! reported.
Security and police eventually arrived and took a statement from Kardashian before she hightailed it from France on a private jet that flew her to New York. Harouche also flew back to the US and is in Los Angeles.
The robbers, who had held the concierge at gunpoint, made off with Kardashian’s $4.5 million diamond ring she had flaunted earlier in a Snapchat post. They also grabbed a jewelry box valued at $6.7 million before racing off on rented bicycles.
French authorities are believed to suspect an Eastern European gang with inside help.
A source told People that Kardashian “is still upset, but being with the kids made her feel a bit better. Kim left the kids in New York City because she thought it would be a much better environment for them.”
