Woody Allen once introduced Soon-Yi as his ‘child bride’
Woody Allen is an unsettling dining companion, according to Kathy Griffin.
The comic writes in her new book that the first time she met the director, he introduced Soon-Yi Previn as his “child bride” and said he had watched every episode of “Hannah Montana.”
In “Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index,” the predictably outrageous Griffin writes that even she thought the introduction was a “pretty upfront opening joke.”
Allen notoriously got together with Previn, 34 years his junior, when he was married to her adoptive mother, Mia Farrow.
Griffin says in the tome — available Tuesday from Flatiron Books — that she struggled to strike up a conversation with Allen at the 2014 dinner party, until she brought up Miley Cyrus. Allen responded “that he’s seen every episode . . . of ‘Hannah Montana’ [which Cyrus starred in until 2011]” and expressed concern about “her ‘current rebellious phase.’ ”
Griffin adds, “Yeah. Pick your jaw up off the floor and let that nestle somewhere uncomfortably in your stomach.”
