Kanye spent Thanksgiving in the hospital with Kim at his side
Kanye West spent Thanksgiving in the hospital with wife Kim Kardashian at his side, and is expected to stay under medical observation for a few more days.
The rapper, who was hospitalized last Monday after suffering a temporary psychosis, according to his personal doctor, is still under close medical supervision, sources tell Page Six.
Family and friends had hoped Kanye – who was taken to hospital after a meltdown at the home of his personal trainer – would be back home for Thanksgiving, but insiders confirmed that he remained at UCLA Mecical Center.
One source said, “Kanye is still under medical observation. He’s doing better, but he still needs to rest. He’s expected to stay in the hospital for a few more days.”
The source said that Kanye is “mentally exhausted” from non-stop touring, work on his fashion and sneaker lines, plus the anniversary of the death of his mother Donda West on November 10. She died of heart disease and complications from surgery in Los Angeles in 2007 following a liposuction and breast reduction operation.
Kanye, who was brought up in Chicago, has blamed himself for her death and said in an interview last year, “If I had never moved to LA she’d be alive.” Donda had moved to LA from Chicago to help manage Kanye’s career.
The source added, “Kanye is physically and mentally exhausted. All the pressure became too much for him. He has been working non-stop on the tour, his sneaker and fashion line, plus he is barely sleeping. It has been a particularly tough time for him because of the anniversary of his mother’s death, he is still grieving.”
We’re told Kim visited Kanye in the hospital for a few hours on Thursday morning, before heading to the Kardashian family Thanksgiving dinner at Kylie Jenner’s Calabasas home.
Also at Kylie’s home were sisters Kendall, Kourtney, and mom Kris, who has been taking care of West and Kim’s two kids North, 3, and Saint, 11 months, while he is in hospital.
Reps for Kanye and Kim didn’t comment.
