Russell Crowe won’t be charged for Azealia Banks fight

Russell Crowe won’t face charges for his alleged brawl with rapper Azealia Banks.

The potential charges were related to an October altercation between the two famous hot heads, in which the Oscar winner allegedly bear-hugged Banks and spit at her after she threatened to attack guests at a dinner party with a glass.

But the Los Angeles County District Attorney has decided not to press any charges, instead viewing Crowe’s actions as an attempt to stop Banks from escalating the fight any further, Page Six has confirmed.

According to the DA’s office, Crowe’s actions were “justified to prevent the imminent violence threatened by Banks” and that his alleged spitting — on her “gloved hand” — was “incidental to preventing more serious threatened violence.”

In a police report after the incident, rapper Banks, 25, also accused Crowe, 52, of calling her the n-word, though Crowe and several witnesses — including rapper RZA, who’d brought Banks as his guest to the party — denied her claims. This was corroborated by the party attendees that investigators spoke to.

Shortly after news of the DA’s decision broke, the rapper took to Facebook to express dismay at the conclusion: “Seriously heartbroken over this news of my case against Russell Crowe being thrown out. I paid a lawyer to defend me who went ghost two weeks ago, and now a DA is saying that he was justified in spitting on me. (?)”

Banks also said that despite disagreeing with the department’s findings, she was not going to let it get her down.

“One thing I won’t do is let this ruin any parts of me. I’ve done enough crying in 2016, and 2017 won’t be the year I allow the media or anyone else to control my narrative,” she wrote.

The “212” rapper previously said she didn’t want to press charges against Crowe to avoid the media attention that would follow the case.
