T.J. Miller arrested for allegedly slapping Uber driver

Don’t tell T.J. Miller that Donald Trump hasn’t done anything to divide the country.

The comedian was arrested Friday morning in Hollywood after allegedly slapping an Uber driver over an argument about the president-elect, reports TMZ.

The incident occurred after the “Office Christmas Party” star left the GQ Men of the Year party at the storied Chateau Marmont. The actor allegedly slapped the driver’s head when they reached his house, a law enforcement source told the website.

The LAPD said Miller was arrested for battery shortly after 1 a.m. Police said the driver made a citizen’s arrest.

The “Silicon Valley” star was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear in court on Jan. 9.

According to TMZ, the driver had no visible injuries and as far as police are concerned, it’s a “he said/he said” matter. Because of this, an attorney Page Six spoke to said it was unlikely the incident would become a serious matter of concern for Miller.

“It’s probably a DA’s nightmare, in that there’s no physical evidence, you potentially have a sympathetic jury and that it was the Uber driver that made a citizen’s arrest, as opposed to the police,” the attorney said. “It uses up public resources on something that is a non-public concern.”

On Tuesday, just days before the incident, Trump denied having done anything to divide the country in an interview with the “Today” show after he was named Time’s Person of the Year. The magazine cover referred to Trump as “President of the Divided States of America.”

“When you say ‘divided states of America,’ I didn’t divide them,” Trump said. “They’re divided now, there’s a lot of division. And we’re going to put it back together.”

The incident occurs just days before Miller was set to host the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Joey Berlin, president of the organization that bestows the Critics’ Choice Awards, says Miller will remain the host for Sunday’s show.

“We look forward to seeing what he’s going to do on Sunday,” Berlin said.

A rep for Miller, 35, did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
