Mariah Carey cancels on choir last-minute

Broadway Inspirational Voices, a choir of Broadway artists, is threatening to sue Mariah Carey’s management team for canceling their contract two days before they were to start tech rehearsals for her annual “All I Want for Christmas Is You” show at the Beacon Theatre.
We’re told Carey’s management secured BIV earlier this year because the diva “desperately wanted that blend on her show,” according to a source familiar with the situation.
“Mariah’s management team canceled the contract two days before they were to start tech rehearsals. Many of its members, of course, adjusted their professional and personal schedules to accommodate the set gig. And they also had to clear their schedules for a significant period of time prior to Christmas,” a source said.
The choir’s lawyer fired off a letter to Carey’s team, calling the termination unacceptable if they did not fulfill their payment obligations under their contract.
Carey returned to the Beacon Theatre and performed nine sold out shows earlier this month.
