Singer’s Trump dress skyrocketed her sales
A hitherto little-known singer who donned a dress lauding President Trump at the Grammys saw a spike in the online sales of her record.
Joy Villa’s “I Make the Static” soared to No. 1 on Amazon and No. 11 on the iTunes album chart as of 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Villa, a 25-year-old Scientologist who performs as Princess Joy Villa, sported a red, white and blue gown emblazoned with the president’s “Make America Great Again” motto as well as the name “TRUMP” in even larger letters.
“Go big, or go home. You can either stand for what you believe or fall for what you don’t. Above all make a choice,” she tweeted after the show in La La Land.
“Sometimes you just got to be free to express yourself,” Villa posted on Instagram about the gown by designer Andre Soriano.
She described herself as a “Vegan, Fitness, Feminist” on her Twitter account, where reviews of her get-up were mixed.
“You go girl! Brave and smart. I love it,” tweeted one user.
“Worst Dress Award goes to Joy Villa,” opined another.
