Lisa Bloom resigns as Harvey Weinstein’s adviser
Lisa Bloom quit as Harvey Weinstein‘s adviser Saturday as the scandal surrounding the Hollywood producer mushroomed.
“I have resigned as an advisor to Harvey Weinstein. My understanding is that Mr. Weinstein and his board are moving toward an agreement,” the famed lawyer and women’s advocate tweeted.
Bloom joins a host of other big names who are cutting ties with Weinstein in the wake of a New York Times expose alleging decades of Weinstein’s sexual harassment of employees and actresses, including Ashley Judd.
Mika Brzezinski also said Saturday she won’t write books for Harvey Weinstein’s publishing house as long as the alleged serial sex-harasser works there.
“I have a three-book deal with Weinstein Books, through Hachette. I can’t go forward with those books unless Harvey resigns,” the “Morning Joe” host tweeted Saturday morning, calling on others to follow her lead.
And two more senators are giving away Weinstein campaign donations as the backlash continued from an expose of the movie producer’s reported scandalous mistreatment of actresses and other women who worked for him.
Sen. Al Franken, a Minnesota Democrat, said he would give campaign donations from Weinstein to the Minnesota Indian Women’s Resource Center. Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who represents Massachusetts, said she will give the $5,000 she received from Weinstein for her 2012 Senate campaign to a charity.
