Ben Affleck apologizes for groping Hilarie Burton in 2003

Ben Affleck issued a public apology for groping “One Tree Hill” actress Hilarie Burton in 2003.

“I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologize,” Affleck tweeted Wednesday.

The move came after Burton, 35, tweeted on Tuesday that she “didn’t forget” the incident, which occurred during an episode of MTV’s “Total Request Live,” adding, “I was a kid.”

Burton previously recalled the uncomfortable moment in a “Total Request Live” retrospective.

“He wraps his arm around me and tweaks my left boob,” she said. “I’m just like, ‘What are you doing?’ … Some girls like good tweakage here and there. I’d rather have a high-five.”

The resurfacing of the incident came after Affleck’s denouncement of Harvey Weinstein following a slew of sexual harassment and assault allegations against the producer.

“I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades. The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick,” Affleck, 45, tweeted Tuesday. “This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn’t happen to others.”

He continued, “We need to do better at protecting our sisters, friends, co-workers and daughters. We must support those who come forward, condemn this type of behavior when we see it and help ensure there are more women in positions of power.”

In another resurfaced past appearance, Affleck is seen touching host Anne-Marie Losique during a segment for Canadian TV show “Box-Office,” but she says the 13-year-old clip is being taken out of context.

“This was for the camera,” she told The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday. “You have to understand that we have done dozens and dozens of interviews like that. It was for a show I was producing, so I was not at all a victim. When the cameras rolled, we would start to do that game. As soon as it stopped rolling, there was none of that. He never touched me in any improper way. He was very respectful, I must say.”

Warning: Explicit language

Burton wasn’t the only starlet to call out Affleck after his commentary was posted.

Rose McGowan, who accused Weinstein of rape and called for the entire Weinstein Company board to resign, was the first to slam Affleck for what she perceived as hypocrisy.

“Ben Affleck f—k off,” McGowan, 44, tweeted shortly after Affleck’s statement Tuesday.

She followed with, “@benaffleck ‘GODDAMNIT! I TOLD HIM TO STOP DOING THAT’ you said that to my face. The press conf I was made to go to after assault. You lie.”

A rep for Affleck didn’t immediately return a request for comment on McGowan’s remarks.
