Beyoncé hasn’t hesitated to do what she can to help hurricane relief efforts in her hometown of Houston. That’s because, as her mother Tina Knowles Lawson shared, philanthropy is in her blood.

“They were feeding the homeless when they were 5 and 10,” Knowles said of daughters Beyoncé and Solange on “The Doctors,” airing Tuesday. “Solange was on bread and Beyoncé did silverware.”

Lending a helping hand, Knowles, 63, along with husband Richard Lawson, also disclosed they filled up a semi-truck with 24 pallets of cleaning supplies and drove it from LA. She is grateful to see her children still doing their part.

“It’s just something that if you instill in them, I’m so proud because they’re still caring now,” Knowles said.

In addition to dropping a surprise single to aid in the relief efforts for hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, the 36-year-old superstar also teamed up with Pastor Rudy Rasmus of her home church, St. John’s United Methodist Church, to support the survivors.

“I’m home, this church is my home. I was maybe nine or ten years old the first time I sat there where my daughter [Blue Ivy] is sitting. I sang my first solo here,” she said last month, per NBC News.

“The things that really matter are your health and your children, and your family and your life.”
