Selena Gomez’s mom isn’t happy about Justin Bieber reunion
Selena Gomez‘s mother isn’t thrilled about her daughter’s latest ride on the Justin Bieber roller coaster.
Speaking recently to Gossip Cop, Mandy Teefey said that while she is “not happy” about the reconciliation between the pop stars, she recognizes her 25-year-old child is a grown woman.
“Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy,” Teefey said.
Rumors of a reunion between Gomez and Bieber, 23, ignited late last year after the “Wolves” songstress split from boyfriend The Weeknd after 10 months of dating. Gomez’s on-and-off relationship with Bieber spanned from 2010 to 2014, though Teefey hasn’t spoken to her daughter’s beau in years.
“Selena is an adult and can make her own choices,” Teefey said. “She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health.”
Gomez sought treatment at Arizona’s Dawn of the Meadows facility in early 2014. She also took time off in 2016 to focus on her mental health.
Despite Teefey’s hesitation about Gomez and Bieber reconnecting, the “Friends” crooner is determined to win his lady love’s family over.
“Justin is aware Selena’s family is not thrilled they are hanging out. They think he caused Selena a lot of grief,” a friend of Bieber’s told People. “Justin hopes he can prove to them that he has changed.”
