Accused bank robber claims he was inspired by Taylor Swift
A Connecticut man is claiming that Taylor Swift inspired him to rob a bank.
Bruce Rowley, 26, was arrested for robbing a bank in Ansonia, Conn., last week, the city’s police department confirmed. According to a police report obtained by TMZ, Rowley informed authorities that he’d done it in hopes of grabbing the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer’s attention.
Rowley was arrested Thursday after he was spotted in Rhode Island and led police on a car chase into Connecticut that only ended after his vehicle’s tires were flattened by a spike strip. Following the chase, Rowley allegedly told authorizes that he’d driven to Swift’s house and thrown some of the money he’d stolen over the fence in hopes of winning her heart.
According to TMZ, he allegedly told police that he tried to contact the pop star but was told she was not home. Police have yet to confirm the claim that he actually visited the residence.
Rowley is said to have repeatedly told police he had a crush on Swift and that he planned to donate money to the police department in hopes of impressing her.
According to an Ansonia PD press release, Rowley was booked for robbery in the second degree and larceny in the fourth degree. Police said that following his arrest, he confessed to the robbery.
