Chris Rock treats two strangers to dinner

If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.

That was Chris Rock’s strategy when he showed up at downtown Mexican eatery La Esquina only to find the place fully packed last week.

Said a spy, “Chris Rock walked in. He was alone, and there was nowhere for him to sit.”

So the comic “was invited to sit with two women,” who we hear work near the restaurant.

“He agreed to join them,” said the source, “and when he left, he paid the bill by leaving $1,000 cash. He then told them to order whatever they wanted.”

He apparently made a break for it when paparazzi were stationed outside.

A rep for the star did not get back to us. Rock was recently spotted courtside at MSG to see the lowly Knicks play the Cavaliers.
