Cardi B breaks silence following Met Gala scuffle
Cardi B broke her silence about an incident involving a persistent fan who got too close to the pregnant rapper after the Met Gala and was slugged by a member of her entourage.
In a since-deleted tweet, the 25-year-old Bronx native wrote: “If you check my tag pics I take a lot of pics with fans. Some people are not fans & sometimes I don’t want no pics and I simply don’t want people too close cause of [my pregnancy].”
“I don’t know what are people’s intentions sooo I be careful. Why can’t people respect that?” the “Invasion of Privacy” rapper wrote, according to People.
Following Monday night’s lavish event, Giovanni Arnold, a 33-year-old self-proclaimed “autograph hound,” accosted Cardi B outside the Mark Hotel on East 77th Street.
Cardi B’s crew intervened and allegedly pushed the man to the ground and punched him, cops said. Video of the beatdown shows one man in her entourage stomping on the victim before fleeing.
The fan told The Blast that it was Cardi B’s fiancé, rapper Offset, 26 — with whom she is expecting a child — who ordered the members of the entourage to “go after” him.
Arnold was taken to New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell in stable condition.
No arrests have been made and cops are looking to speak to the three entourage members involved.
