Pete Davidson talked to Nick Cannon before proposing to Ariana Grande
Pete Davidson phoned a friend before proposing to Ariana Grande.
“He called before he was going to do it, and I said, ‘Salud!'” Nick Cannon told ET on Thursday. “He was really excited, so I was like, ‘I love it, man. Keep it going.’ Love is in the air!”
Davidson, 24, popped the question to Grande, also 24, last week after dating for less than a month.
And the “Wildin’ Out” host, 37, who is single after his eight-year marriage to Mariah Carey, didn’t hesitate to advise the young “SNL” star.
“I’ve been one of those dudes with one of those fantasy, fantastic relationships where you just go off and get married, so I was like, ‘Do it,'” he said, and told ET that Davidson is an “outstanding, hilarious young individual.”
The two met after Davidson, who was 15 at the time, called Cannon’s radio show insisting he should be his opening act.
“‘This kid is pretty funny,'” Cannon recalled thinking. “I took him on the road with me.”
Just weeks after dumping their previous significant others, Grande has been sporting her $100K engagement ring and he covered up his tattoo dedicated to his former girlfriend Cazzie David. He is now sporting new ink inspired by his pop-star fiancée.
