Mac Miller references Ariana Grande split in new song
Mac Miller is still reeling from his breakup with Ariana Grande in his new song, “Self Care.”
“Well, didn’t know what I was missing / Now it see a lil’ different … We play it cool / We know we f–ked up, yeah / You keep on sayin’ you in love, so? / Tell me are you really down?” he raps on the track that dropped at midnight Friday.
Grande, 25, and Miller, 26, split in May after two years together, initially citing conflicting schedules as the reason for the breakup.
However, weeks later, Grande claimed that her relationship with Miller was “toxic,” adding, “I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years (and always will of course) but shaming/blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his s–t together is a very major problem.”
Miller was busted for allegedly driving under the influence shortly after the breakup, which he also references in the song, saying, “That Mercedes drove me crazy, I was speedin’ / Somebody save me from myself, yeah / Tell them they can take that bulls–t elsewhere.”
Meanwhile, Grande, who’s since very rapidly and very publicly moved on with Pete Davidson, dropped the video for “God Is a Woman” — rife with unsubtle Georgia O’Keeffe-style imagery — on Friday.
