Mac Miller avoiding the internet since Ariana and Pete’s engagement

Mac Miller has been avoiding the internet since his “stressful” split from Ariana Grande, and especially since her quickie engagement to Pete Davidson — but he wishes them well despite the rapid nature of their romance.

“I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years. We worked through good times, bad times, stress and everything else,” he told Apple Music’s Beats 1 host Zane Lowe on Monday. “And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it’s that simple.”

Miller added, “It’s all positive energy … It’s strange. Like, the whole [breakup] is a little strange, but it’s not negative. It’s just a part of something that’s going to continue to help make me who I am … I am happy for her and [that she’s] moving forward with her life, just as I’m sure she is with me.”

Miller, 26, and Grande, 25, called it quits in April after two years together — two months before news broke of Grande’s engagement to Davidson. The “God Is a Woman” singer would later tell her followers that her relationship with Miller was “toxic.”

A week after announcing the breakup, Miller was arrested for DUI, something he now says was necessary to face his demons.

“I made a stupid mistake. I’m a human being. But it was the best thing that could have happened,” he said.

While he’s happy to be doing better now, that doesn’t mean he’s feverishly checking his mentions. He’s been avoiding social media in an effort to preserve his own sanity.

“It just all seemed kind of unimportant you know — the need to show people I was OK,” he said of keeping off the internet. “I can find any story I want about myself. I used to look at my phone, scroll through Twitter and Instagram and get my ego stroked and destroyed in the five minutes every morning, you know what I mean? But with everything that happened, it was just too much.”
