Wilmer Valderrama stays silent on Demi Lovato’s overdose

Demi Lovato has received a lot of support after her suspected drug overdose, but one person has been conspicuously silent — ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.

That’s because the actor, 38, is “devastated” and “shocked” by the news, a source told People.

The former couple, who were on-again-off-again for six years, broke up for good in June 2016. Lovato previously admitted that whenever they were “off,” it was because she was relapsing.

“The only times we ever broke up were when I was relapsing, whether it was drugs or in a bad place and rebelling against everybody, not just him,” she told Cosmopolitan in 2015. “People say that relapses happen before you use. Your mind starts setting up the relapse before you take that drink or that first hit. The times we’d broken up, I had already gone to that place of, ‘Yeah, this is what’s happening.’ I didn’t realize it at the time, but I just wanted to sabotage everything around me so that I could sabotage myself.”

While Valderrama, whom Lovato described as the love of her life, has been quiet so far, plenty of other lovers have shown their support on social media.

Joe and Nick Jonas, who were on tour with the now-25-year-old when she first went to rehab in 2010, sent their well wishes.

“Like all of you I am reeling at the news about Demi. All of us love her and need to pray for her to get well. She is a fighter. #prayfordemi,” Nick, rumored to have inspired her track “Ruin the Friendship,” tweeted Tuesday.

Joe, who briefly dated Lovato when they co-starred in the Disney Channel hit “Camp Rock,” wrote, “Like all of you I am thinking of @DDLovato right now. She needs our prayers and support. We all know how strong you are Demi.”

Kehlani, who engaged in serious PDA with Lovato onstage this spring, tweeted, “Sending huge recovery love to Demi. This is a very personal moment and respected delicately. All we can do is send our best wishes and love. Addiction isn’t simple nor easy. You’re very loved, @ddlovato. You’ll beat this as you did before.”

DJ Lauren Abedini, with whom Lovato was spotted holding hands in September 2017, posted a photo of the two and wrote, “These f–king demons are not gonna win @ddlovato. You have spent a lifetime fighting and you have the strength. We’re all praying and love you so much.”

“My whole heart and my whole soul is with @ddlovato today. I adore you and so does the entire world. You will fight this and you will come out of it even stronger. Addiction is powerful beyond measure, but you can defeat it. I love you,” Ruby Rose, rumored to have hooked up with Lovato before the singer came out as bisexual, tweeted.

Lovato was hospitalized Tuesday for a drug overdose that was initially suspected to be heroin but may have been from a different opioid or combination of drugs.

Her rep said in a statement Tuesday, “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”
