‘Bachelorette’ Becca Kufrin isn’t rushing to wed controversial winner

Don’t expect “Bachelorette” Becca Kufrin and fiancé Garrett Yrigoyen to make a mad dash to the altar.

“We don’t have a time frame at this point. Today is our very first day that we can actually be in public,” Kufrin, 28, said Tuesday on a conference call with reporters. “We just want to take baby steps and continue to grow in our relationship, and build our foundation and get to know one another.”

Kufrin accepted a proposal from controversial contestant Yrigoyen, 29, on Monday’s season finale. The medical sale rep presented the publicist with a nearly 4-carat Neil Lane engagement ring, estimated to be worth between $18,000 and $20,000.

“I can only hope that people support my decision, cause at the end of the day I had to follow my heart,” Kufrin said of selecting Yrigoyen, who came under fire in May for double-tapping offensive content on social media. He has since apologized.

“Hopefully people can stay open-minded to her decision,” Yrigoyen said.

While some of #BachelorNation has offered well wishes to the happy couple, Kufrin said she hasn’t heard from her former fiancé Arie Luyendyk Jr.

“No, he has not,” the bride-to-be said, when asked if Luyendyk had reached out.

Luyendyk famously jilted Kufrin on “The Bachelor” finale in March, ending their engagement as the cameras documented the breakup in real-time. He is set to wed runner-up Lauren Burnham in Hawaii next year.
