Kate Middleton’s style is more popular than Meghan Markle’s
Though Meghan Markle has dominated media coverage lately while Kate Middleton tends to her 4-month-old son, it’s the Duchess of Cambridge who’s the real style star of the royal family.
Per the Evening Standard, eBay’s annual UK Retail Report indicates that Middleton’s fashion choices have inspired more people to shop than Markle’s. The mother of three had the highest number of online searches on eBay of any royal over the past year.
Searches for tailored maternity coats more than tripled in November 2017, when Middleton, 36, was making the rounds while pregnant with Prince Louis. And in April, after she appeared outside the hospital wearing a red Jenny Packman dress for little Louis’ public debut, searches for the designer more than doubled.
Other designers Middleton was spotted wearing, including Alexander McQueen and Seraphine, saw similar upticks in search, with the Evening Standard reporting year-over-year growth of 20 percent.
Still, 37-year-old Markle wielded plenty of style influence throughout her first year as part of the royal entourage. Queries for styles and designers worn by the Duchess of Sussex hit a fever pitch in May, when she married Prince Harry.
Coming in third was Princess Charlotte, who got the top influencer spot in 2017. Prince George followed his sister, while Queen Elizabeth herself rounded out the top five — largely due to her brooch collection and the potential hidden meanings therein.
