Hollywood, music elite descended upon Rihanna’s Diamond Ball

Hollywood, music elite descended upon Rihanna’s Diamond Ball

A night after hosting her racy Savage X Fenty Show in Brooklyn to close out New York Fashion Week, Rihanna was back on the scene to throw her fourth-annual Diamond Ball at Cipriani Wall Street.

Issa Rae hosted the event, which benefited the Clara Lionel Foundation, with VIP guests including Joan Smalls, rapper A$AP Rocky, and Paris and Nicki Hilton. Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) performed as guests guzzled Jay-Z’s Armand de Brignac rosé champagne, poured from rare metal-coated jeroboams.

Guest Gayle King told us of her dance moves at the party, “Do I look like a twerker? I’m more of a twirler. I love [Rihanna’s] music, which goes without saying. She has so many songs. I remember when she first started, when she was a teenager, and to see how successful she is today is great. And now she is a grown-ass, badass woman, and I like to see that. On top of that, she is really doing something with her life.”

The ball raised nearly $6 million.

Keyshia Ka’oir, the wife of rapper Gucci Mane, said of the diamond-themed event, “Of course I want to come and wear my diamonds . . . If I’m wearing my jewelry, I have security. But I don’t wear them every day — it’s just too much.”

Inspired by the charity event, she added, “I think about doing a Jamaican ball sometimes . . . It would be called Ka’oir Cares.”

Later, guests headed to the Public Hotel for Rihanna’s after-party, where guests were still waiting at 3 a.m. for the singer to arrive.
