Lady Gaga’s engagement ring could be worth over $1M
When it came to choosing a special sparkler for his “A Star Is Born” fiancée Lady Gaga, Christian Carino sure didn’t have “shallow” pockets.
Gaga, 32, is currently in press tour mode for her buzzy musical movie and stepped out at the film’s London premiere on Thursday in an archival Alexander McQueen look complete with the pink diamond ring she’s been sporting constantly since late 2017 — widely rumored to be her engagement ring from Carino, 49.
“The center gemstone in this gorgeously feminine ring appears to be either a pink diamond or pink sapphire,” Brilliant Earth‘s VP of strategy and merchandising Kathryn Money (who did not work on Gaga’s ring) told Page Six.
And the “Million Reasons” singer’s rock may have come with a seven-figure price tag.
“A natural pink diamond of this saturation and size would be very rare, easily costing over $1 million,” Money continued. “If made with a premium-quality pink sapphire, this ring would cost upwards of $100,000, depending on the characteristics of the specific gemstone.”
Money estimates that the center stone in Gaga’s ring weighs in at between 11 and 13 carats. It’s framed by a floral halo of 12 colorless diamonds, and features mixed metals — specifically, a white gold setting and yellow gold band — that reflect the pop icon’s eclectic personal style.
Colorful engagement rings are currently enjoying a comeback among the famous crowd: Gwyneth Paltrow’s rock from fiancé Brad Falchuk is an enormous sapphire, Eva Longoria rocks a ruby from husband José Bastón and the soon-to-wed Princess Eugenie sports a pink sapphire from Jack Brooksbank featuring a similar vintage-style halo.
