Drew Barrymore’s team says bizarre airline magazine interview is bogus

A wild interview with Drew Barrymore in EgyptAir’s in-flight magazine went viral after being tweeted out Monday by a passenger — and now there’s a battle between the star’s reps and the article’s author over its authenticity.

A rep for Barrymore told Huffington Post that the actress “did not participate” in the interview — which included questionable quotes from Barrymore, including that she would “encourage every woman who is overweight to work on regaining her beauty and body, especially that it is not as hard as one may think.”

The rep said that they’re “working with the airline p.r. team” about the allegedly bogus sit-down.

However, the piece’s writer, Aida Takla O’Reilly — a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — took to Twitter to assure readers (with misspellings) that “the interview with Drew Barrimoor which took place in New York is genuine &far from fake. As far as Drew we interviewed her several times I saw her grow up before my eyes she is charming and talented.”

The byline in the magazine also misspells O’Reilly’s name as “Tekla,” and oddly reports Barrymore, “has had almost 17 relationships, engagements and marriages.”

The piece claims unnamed “psychologists” view her behavior as “subconsciously seeking attention and care from a male figure.”

O’Reilly noted that the mag and others are, “authorized to edit the final version of the interviews.”
