Prince Harry couldn’t be a prouder papa-to-be, addressing Meghan Markle‘s pregnancy for the first time in a speech during their trip to Australia.
“It’s great to be back in Australia, and especially even more so, this is my wife’s first trip here, so I’m very excited to show her this incredible country of yours,” the Duke of Sussex, 34, told the crowd at a reception in Sydney on Tuesday.
The Ginger Prince cracked jokes with locals and acknowledged meeting koalas earlier in the day with Meghan, 37, then thanked Australia for hosting the Invictus Games before mentioning the imminent royal baby for the first time since it was announced the couple are expecting.
Beaming at Meghan, he quipped, “We also, genuinely, couldn’t think of a better place to announce, uh, the upcoming baby, be it a boy or girl, so thank you very much.”
On Sunday, Kensington Palace announced that Meghan and Harry are expecting their first child, due in spring 2019.

The newest royal baby will be seventh in line to the throne, behind Harry, who is sixth.
Prince Charles is first after Queen Elizabeth, followed by Prince William and his three children with wife Kate Middleton.
Harry and Meghan, who wed in May, are in the middle of a 16-day visit to Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.
