Pete Davidson added Ariana ‘SNL’ mention after hearing ‘Thank U, Next’
Pete Davidson decided to say some kind words about ex-fiancée Ariana Grande on “Saturday Night Live” after previewing “Thank U, Next.”
As Page Six previously reported, Grande revealed that she let exes Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez preview her single prior to its release, which took place 30 minutes before “SNL” aired, but it was unclear whether Davidson received the same treatment. But according to TMZ, Davidson’s kind words about the “Breathin'” songstress were a result of him hearing the track early, too.
He reportedly ran his few lines by showrunner Lorne Michaels, who gave him the OK. Davidson went on to describe Grande as a “wonderful, strong person” and wished her all the happiness in the world. In the days leading up to the anticipated episode, it didn’t seem Grande and Davidson were on the best terms.
In a promo ahead of Saturday’s episode, Davidson poked fun at his failed engagement to the “God Is a Woman” singer by proposing to musical guest Maggie Rogers.
Rogers, 24, declines and Davidson responds by saying he’s “0-3,” poking fun at his failed relationships, which include Cazzie David.
“For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh,” Grande wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “thank u, next.”
