How to throw a party like celebrity event planner Mindy Weiss

Top celebrity event planner Mindy Weiss knows how to throw the perfect holiday party and is dishing out the key to her success.

“Everyone says, ‘How much do I have to spend? What could the theme be?’ But the guest list is really important,” Weiss told Page Six at the Shutterfly Holiday Gift Guide event in November, adding once you make the list, everything else will come together. “From there, we can judge what kind of food, what kind of alcohol, so I always think, who comes to the party should be one of the most important things.”

On top of good food and festive music, Weiss had one other major tip for party-throwers: have a place for people to sit.

“A lot of times people just have all these open tables with no chairs,” she told us. “People want to sit and talk and relax during the holidays.”

As for trends, Weiss says that while bright colors have been trendy the last couple of years, this year a lot of people are going back to traditional holiday colors.

“I think six out of my eight parties this year want either all winter white or red and green, or for Hanukkah, all blue,” she said.

As for her own holiday wishes, Weiss told us she would love to spend the season with her granddaughters.

“I also wouldn’t mind a spa day,” she laughed. “An eight-hour spa day and no cell phones allowed.”
