Ariana Grande slammed for using Kanye West-Drake feud to promote new single
Arianators aren’t pleased with Ariana Grande for using Kanye West and Drake’s feud to remind users that both she and Miley Cyrus were releasing new music.
“guys, i know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and i dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u,” Grande tweeted late Thursday. She was preparing to drop her latest single, “Imagine.”
Cyrus, who was releasing her version of “Happy Xmas (War Is Over) with Mark Ronson and Sean Ono Lennon,” quote tweeted Grande’s message and added, “Didn’t they hear the news ?! War IS over ! Thank you , next! ❤️💛💚💜,” referencing her latest song and Grande’s previous hit single.
Despite the playful banter between pop stars, Grande’s followers weren’t thrilled.
“kanye tweeting was never gonna impact your single dropping 🤷🏻♀️ idk why ya had to hamper the drop with this tweet,” wrote one user. “love u queen but this was definitely kind of unnecessary.”
Added another, “‘Guys we’re dropping a new song so please shut up and let me get my streams on a song where I milk all my exes.'”
One used Grande’s music against her, tweeting simply, “Next.”
On Thursday, Drake and Kanye appeared to settle their long-standing feud, but hours later, the “Flashing Lights” rapper let loose with more than 80 tweets slamming the Canadian-born actor-rapper. Kanye claimed Drake “called trying to threatened [sic] me.”
“So drake if anything happens to me or anyone from my family you are the first suspect— So cut the tough talk,” Kanye continued.
Kanye brought up Pusha T’s Toronto concert in which fans started throwing drinks at him, causing chaos, as backup for his argument. While onstage, Pusha blamed Drake for the disturbance.
“The kid he had run on stage at Pushas concert is in critical condition,” said Kanye of one assailant who ran on stage and ended up hospitalized after being stabbed numerous times in the melee.
The other concertgoers were violently stopped by security.
Drake has yet to respond to the tweetstorm.
Drake and Kanye have been feuding since Pusha released the track “Infrared” on his latest album, “Daytona,” which West produced. In the song, Pusha, Drake’s longtime rival, accused him of using a ghostwriter. On the song “The Story of Adidon,” Pusha revealed Drake has a secret son.
