Bruce Weber claims accuser pursued him after alleged assault
Famed fashion photographer Bruce Weber — who’s being sued for allegedly groping a subject — says the male model pursued him after the alleged assault with “provocative and salacious” texts including semi-nude selfies.
Weber has attached copies of the 2013 and 2014 texts to court papers refuting allegations in the Manhattan Supreme Court suit brought by Jason Boyce.
Boyce claims Weber — known for his work in Vogue and Rolling Stone magazines — cornered him in the back of the photographer’s Manhattan studio in December 2014.
Weber, then 68, allegedly ordered the 28-year-old model to remove his shirt and pants and asked him to take off his underwear. When Boyce froze, Weber took the underwear off himself then put his hand on the model’s chest and groin, the suit says.
Weber also moved Boyce’s hand onto his own crotch and put his fingers in his mouth, the suit says. Before leaving the studio Weber grabbed Boyce and kissed him on the mouth, according to court papers.
But in the new filing Weber calls Boyce an “unsuccessful 32-year-old male model” who made “false” allegations against him to “extort a hefty settlement.”
“The record evidence shows that it was plaintiff, as well has his modeling agents, who relentlessly pursued Mr. Weber to photograph plaintiff,” the shutterbug says in court papers.
He attaches a series of revealing text messages including two sent by Boyce’s agent David Todd to Weber in March 2013 and February 2014.
“This is Jason Boyce. 24 and 6 feet. Stunning!!!!!” says the first message above a full frontal naked selfie of Boyce.
Todd followed up with a second nude shot of Boyce reminding the storied photographer that his client is “6 feet, 24- gorgeous!!!!”
Boyce himself sent Weber at topless selfie showing off his sculpted body months after their December 2014 encounter. The text included a note that read, “Hope you’re having a good weekend Bruce!! : – )”
The exchanges “demonstrate that plaintiff was soliciting Mr. Weber, not the other way around,” the photographer writes in court papers.
Boyce’s lawyer, Lisa Bloom said, “Mr. Weber has hired a team of high priced attorneys who will make every possible argument on his behalf, as we would expect them to do. Nevertheless, we are confident that justice will prevail for the six male models we represent who accuse Mr. Weber of sexual misconduct.”
