Everything newly engaged Chris Pratt has said about his faith

Chris Pratt has always been open about being a devout Christian and made mention of his faith when he announced his engagement to Katherine Schwarzenegger early Monday.

“Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes! I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you. Here we go,” Pratt, 39, gushed on Instagram as the couple showed off her new ring.

In honor of Schwarzenegger’s birthday in December, Pratt thanked God for bringing them together.

“Happy Birthday Chief! Your smile lights up the room. I’ve cherished our time together. Thrilled God put you in my life,” he captioned a tribute to her on Instagram. “Thankful for the laughs, kisses, talks, hikes, love and care.♥️”

Pratt’s faith has always been a cornerstone in his life, though he said it didn’t become a priority until he was 19 years old and living in Hawaii.

“In Maui, about four weeks before I was discovered to go to California, I was hanging with my buddy. I wasn’t quite old enough to drink, so we got somebody to go in and buy us some alcohol. This guy came by and was like, ‘What are you doing tonight?'” Pratt told Esquire in 2014.

The man went on to ask Pratt if he going to drink, do drugs and “fornicate,” to which Pratt replied, “Most likely, yeah. Probably all three of those things. I mean, at least two of them, possibly all three.”

The mystery man then told the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star that he “stopped because Jesus told me to stop and talk to you. He said to tell you you’re destined for great things.”

In the end, Pratt went with the man instead of with his friends. He gave his soul to Jesus within two days while working for Jews for Jesus even though he didn’t “know what Jewish was.” A few days after that, Pratt took his drug-addicted female friend, the daughter of a pastor, to church and got her sober.

“I feel a little bit like my entire purpose was to get her,” he shared.

Since then, Pratt has always emphasized the importance of his faith in his life, especially when his and Anna Faris’ son, Jack, was born prematurely.

“It restored my faith in God, not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it,” he told People magazine. “The baby was so beautiful to us, and I look back at the photos of him and it must have been jarring for other people to come in and see him, but to us he was so beautiful and perfect.”

The “Avengers: Infinity War” actor also cited the Bible when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, writing, “Psalm 126:3: ‘The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.’ Thank you to the many, many people who empowered me to follow my dreams,” he shared on Facebook.

Over the summer, Pratt took home the Generation Award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. During his acceptance speech, the “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” star listed nine rules for living that his fans could follow. While some of the tips included learning how to poop without leaving a smell and how to feed a dog medicine, two of Pratt’s serious suggestions involved his faith.

“God is real. God loves you, God wants the best for you,” he said for his first religious-based tip. “Believe that, I do.”

“Learn to pray,” he added as another suggestion. “It’s easy, and it is so good for your soul.”
