A star is worn.
Lady Gaga hit the red carpet at the 2019 Oscars in a demure strapless black gown by Alexander McQueen teamed with elbow-length gloves, but all eyes were on the enormous yellow diamond suspended from the star’s neck.

The “Shallow” singer, 32, wore the iconic Tiffany Diamond, which weighs in at 128.54 carats and was last worn by Audrey Hepburn, who modeled the one-of-a-kind, cushion-cut gem in a publicity shoot for the 1961 film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”
Unearthed in 1877 in the Kimberley Mines of South Africa, it’s one of the largest yellow diamonds in the world, and is reportedly worth over $30 million — making it the most expensive piece of Oscars jewelry ever worn.

“The chance to work with such an amazing piece of design and history tonight is a creative dream come true,” Gaga’s stylists Sandra Amador and Tom Erebout shared in a press release. “There are so many beautiful jewels in the world, but the radiant Tiffany Diamond, which weighs over 128 carats, is truly exceptional, which is just so fitting for Lady Gaga.”

Gaga is up for Best Actress tonight, and will face off against Olivia Colman, Glenn Close, Yalitza Aparicio and Melissa McCarthy for the statuette. Meanwhile, “A Star Is Born” is nominated in nearly every major category, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Original Song.
