Kylie Jenner defends ‘self-made’ billionaire title
Kylie Jenner isn’t bothered by the backlash surrounding her “self-made” billionaire status.
“There’s really no other word to use other than self-made because that is the truth. That is the category that I fall under,” she told Interview.
In March 2019, Jenner, 21, became the world’s youngest “self-made” billionaire, according to Forbes. Her Kylie Cosmetics company was valued at at least $900 million and the magazine also took into account her other revenue streams.
Jenner, who is mom to 1-year-old daughter Stormi, knows she’s not like most other billionaires. “I am a special case because before I started Kylie Cosmetics, I had a huge platform and lots of fans,” she said.
And as for her seed money? It all came from her pockets.
“I did not get money from my parents past the age of 15,” she said. “I used 100% of my own money to start the company, not a dime in my bank account is inherited … and I am very proud of that.”
While Jenner “believed in Kylie Cosmetics,” she admits she “didn’t even know what I was getting myself into.”
“It feels amazing, it’s wild, and being the youngest ever to do it is a blessing. I now want to focus on giving back to people and doing things that I’m passionate about.”
