Meghan Markle’s post-pregnancy style not likely to mirror Kate Middleton’s
Royal baby watch is in full effect as Meghan Markle‘s due date approaches.
The Duchess of Sussex, 37, who is set to welcome her first child with Prince Harry this month, will reportedly be breaking away from the decades-old tradition of giving birth in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, located in central London, allegedly opting for the Mulberry Birth Centre at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, England, instead.
Located a short distance from Frogmore Cottage, where Meghan and Harry, 34, recently relocated from Kensington Palace, the change in the birth locale appears to be another way the parents-to-be have paved their own path, with many wondering if the expected photo-op outside the hospital will be tossed, too.
While Kate Middleton appeared to pay tribute to the late Princess Diana with her outfit last April after welcoming son Prince Louis, it remains to be seen if Meghan will follow suit.
“I’m thinking we might get a more true, you know, casual sort of look from her in the photos. What a mom really might look like when they’re coming out of the hospital — to me, that’s Meghan,” What Meghan Wore founder Susan Courter recently told Page Six Style.
Although Middleton’s glamorous post-birth appearance fueled dozens of headlines, Courter doesn’t expect Markle to “put on this display of full-blown hair and makeup.”
Looking at the line of succession in the British monarchy, with Middleton’s husband, Prince William, second behind his father, Prince Charles, Courter believes Harry and Meghan can be a bit more relaxed “with things, particularly with fashion,” based on their position.
“If you even look at [Princess] Beatrice or [Princess] Eugenie, or any of the others who aren’t in direct line to the throne, they even have their own trendy twists and style,” she said.
As for post-pregnancy fashion moments, Courter expects new mom Meghan to push boundaries, with respect to the crown.
“She’s always kind of stuck to this very neutral, black and white and beige and blush kind of tones, which looks fabulous on her and they’re classic. So when we get these engagements when she shows up in a bright pop of color, everyone seems to go crazy for that. Really hoping that she still incorporates a lot of that and I think she will as a mom,” Courter said.
“I kind of see her incorporating some more prints and brighter colors. I think she’s still trying to find her way as well, and now that they have their own Instagram account, moving away from Kensington Palace, I think we may see some more independence that way,” she continued.
With the introduction of Harry and Meghan’s official Instagram account last week, it’s also possible the new parents will share more personal moments with the public
“I hope we see those really fun family photos from them and I think we will with their own Instagram account; they’re going to kind of run with it,” Courter said.
