Selena Gomez designs bikini to cover kidney transplant scar
Selena Gomez is back in the fashion game.
To celebrate the launch of her friend Theresa Mingus’ swimwear brand, Krahs Swim, the 26-year-old singer has designed three styles — including a bikini with a particularly special purpose.
“The design I did, one of them, it was the high-waisted one with the belt. I’ve had a kidney transplant and I like bathing suits that kind of cover where that’s been and make me feel comfortable,” Gomez explained in a YouTube video announcing the launch.
In 2017, the “Bad Liar” singer revealed she’d undergone a kidney transplant earlier in the year due to complications from lupus, which she’s struggled with for years. Her friend Francia Raisa donated a kidney to the star, and Gomez hinted in the clip that Mingus also helped her through the ordeal.
“I just didn’t think I could get through some of the hardest points in my life if it wasn’t for you,” she said.
Mingus’ label will launch on Thursday, along with the Selena x Krahs capsule; prices range from $39.99 to $69.99, according to People.
