“Yesterday” director Danny Boyle has been a Beatles fan for a very long time.

“I have a twin sister and a younger sister and when we were 8 years old, my mom and dad used to play their songs downstairs, and we were upstairs going to bed,” Boyle, 62, told Page Six at the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday night.

Boyle continued, “My twin was in love with Paul, as all girls were at the time. So she played Paul McCartney and I played John Lennon and our younger sister could play George or Ringo … and we used to play all these games pretending we were The Beatles, so that was my first experience of them.”

Boyle’s new film “Yesterday” is about a musician who wakes up after a bike accident to find that he’s the only person who knows who The Beatles are. His career begins to take off when he starts singing their classic songs.

“Yesterday,” which also stars Lily James, Kate McKinnon and Ed Sheeran, closed the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival.
