Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby name odds revealed
Frogmore Cottage should prepare for an onslaught of Arthur the aardvark dolls.
Baby Sussex is finally here, and bettors have furiously been wagering on the little boy’s name.
The top choice is Arthur at 5/1 odds, according to British-based betting and gambling company Ladbrokes.
That’s one of the middle names of Prince Charles, the baby’s grandfather. It’s expected that the infant will receive a traditional moniker, despite his parents, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, shaking up the House of Windsor with their modern, touchy-feely approach. Albert and Philip — the name of Queen Elizabeth’s husband, the Duke of Edinburgh — come in second at 6/1.
Next up are James at 8/1, Alexander and Alfred — both at 10/1 — and Thomas at 12/1.
For those who hoped the baby would be a girl called Diana, after his late grandmother Princess Diana, there might be some solace. Her maiden name, Spencer, has odds of 14/1.
Meanwhile, Charles, Edward, Henry and Richard all rank 16/1. The newborn is now seventh in line to the British throne, demoting Prince Andrew, the second son of the Queen, into eighth place.
