Rihanna’s high-fashion line will debut later this month
Robyn Fenty has been hard at work.
While Rihanna fans are desperate for new music, the singer, 31, has been busy building her fashion and beauty empire. Her makeup line, Fenty Beauty, and lingerie company Savage x Fenty are both already huge successes and now news that Rihanna will be releasing a high fashion clothing line has been officially confirmed.
According to Business of Fashion, the pop star will present a full line — appropriately called Fenty — later this month in Paris in conjunction with fashion conglomerate LVMH. The offering will reportedly include ready-to-wear as well as accessories, including shoes, sunglasses and jewelry.
“Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr. [LVMH Chairman and Chief Executive Bernard] Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits,” Rihanna said in a statement. “I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
This is far from the first time Rihanna has designed clothing; Her collection with Puma was lucrative and even won a CFDA award for the “Creeper” sneaker. However, her partnership with the company, at the time owned by rival luxury group Kering, ended in the Spring of 2018.
“Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO and a terrific leader. She naturally finds her full place within LVMH,” said Arnault. “To support Rihanna to start up the Fenty Maison, we have built a talented and multicultural team supported by the group resources. I am proud that LVMH is leading this venture and wish it will be a great success.”
Fenty is the first fashion brand LVMH has launched since Christian Lacroix was founded in 1987.
The public first got whiff of the new venture when her company, Denim UK Holdings purchased a 49.99 percent share in Project Loud France, the official name of the company that owns the new label.
With the announcement comes the confirmation that Rih has already been sporting her own designs for quite some time. In January, Page Six Style reported that her new go-to sunglasses, an enormous shield style, hinted at what the Fenty line will offer.
