Cannes Film Festival off to a rough start with taxi-driver strike at airport
Arriving Cannes Film Festival attendees were greeted on Tuesday by a taxi-driver strike at the Nice airport.
“Taxis parked in entry ways to block traffic, so Ubers and buses couldn’t get through,” said a source.
“People were walking long distances to get outside the airport and try and get a ride.”
One woman told us she’d been trying for three hours to get out.
“Cops were there but didn’t seem to be doing anything,” a film pro reported, and we hear at least one big-time studio exec was caught in the morass.
According to reports, the drivers’ union could stage another airport blockade Friday.
